Peer Pressure

It’s important to remember that peer pressure is a normal part of adolescence and can influence during adolescence. As the person starts moving away from the parent-child relationship and seeking their own independence and identity, their peers will become more important to them. Sometimes peer pressure has causes such as weak personality, fear of rejection, social acceptance, avoidance of bullying, improvements in coolness, humans want to be liked, hormonal reasons, bad parenting, religion, cultural values, personal confusion, mental issues… This is a stage and it ends, but what’s important is that a teenager should be careful and aware of choosing their peers during this stage so this won’t affect their future. Also there are solutions that may be helpful during this stage of their lives. “No child is immune to peer pressure.” (Kathi Hudson).

Peer pressure can lead to more harmful consequences; behavior has become a very challenging and a worldwide problem. In adolescents, misbehavior is associated with drinking, smoking, aggression, disrupting, being talkative.... During this process of trying to be in charge of children’s destructive behaviors, parents and teachers may face negative relations with them, as a result, peers become more recognizable in order to replace the adult figure. The peers will then become the dominant figure during adolescence even more than the influence of the parents which leads to misbehavior. , the most effective risk factors found in young people are family life, school life, peer relationships and community.

Finally, every person goes from a stage of their lives where they face difficulties like peer pressure, and it is not easy to cope with. Mistakes can be done big or small during this stage. What is important is to overcome this stage without making very big mistakes that cannot be solved. So, parents and teachers have a very important role in a student's life, they should help and be aware of every child. Teaching is not only giving lessons and going home, it is dealing, understanding and helping their students.
